Manipur: Lightning Strike Injures Farmers and IDP Near Loktak Lake

IMPHAL: In a startling incident near Loktak Lake in Manipur, a thunderstorm unleashed its fury, resulting in injuries to four farmers and an Internally Displaced Person (IDP). The unfortunate occurrence took place at Keimang Loukon, situated between Keirenphabi and Khuga villages, within Manipur's Bishnupur district.

Reports indicate that the lightning strike occurred while the farmers were diligently working in a paddy field. Among the victims, one farmer sustained grievous injuries, underscoring the unpredictable and devastating nature of such natural disasters. Following the incident, all the injured individuals were swiftly transported to the Moirang Health Community Centre to receive essential medical treatment.

However, the misfortune did not stop there. The IDP, already facing hardships due to being displaced, found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. The IDP suffered injuries while seeking shelter at a relief camp in Moirang when they accompanied the four farmers to the nearby paddy field.
