Manipur: Man Kills Father, Gets Life Imprisonment

IMPHAL: A 47-year-old man was given a life sentence for killing his own father, by a court in Manipur's Bishnupur district.

Khangjrakpam Boby from Khoijuman in the Bishnupur district was found guilty on Monday under Section 302 of the IPC of beheading his father, Sanakhomba alias Samungou, by the Court of Session Judge, Bishnupur.

According to Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) L Danny Meetei, on March 3, 2014, the accused killed his father by using a dao to hack off his father's head. In response to Penu's statement that her son had decapitated her husband Sanakhomba during a fight, Bishnupur Police filed a FIR under Section 302 of the IPC, detained the suspect the following day, and started an investigation.

The court condemned Kho Boby to life in solitary confinement with a 5% fee after hearing the defence attorney and the APP's arguments.

An incident from Assam’s Tinsukia district came to light on 6th February, Monday, where a father took life of his own son.

As per the reports, the accused father surrendered himself and admitted his crime to the police. The episode occurred at Puwali Pather village located in Hahkhati. The victim has been identified as Ananta Arandharai. The father while confessing his crime narrated the entire cause of incident to the police.

He mentioned that, Ananta was an alcoholic and the day when the shocking event happened, he was extremely drunk. When he reached his home, Ananta started to harass his father and accused him with foul language.

The father could not stand the happening, as a result of which he struck Ananta. The father confessed his crime at the Dhola Police Station, Tinsukia.
