Manipur: Massive Fire In Imphal Sainik School, Assets Over 60 Lakh Destroyed

IMPHAL: On Saturday, a significant fire broke out at the Sainik School Imphal in Manipur, resulting in losses of more than Rs 60 lakh.

According to accounts, at around 12.30 p.m., flames from a nearby parched paddy field spread to the school and started a fire. Although there were no injuries, Raman House, a boys' dormitory with room for about 200 students, was severely damaged by the fire.

The locals, the Manipur Police, the Assam Rifles, and the state fire service responded quickly to put out the fires. Fortunately, the hostellers were out attending their classes when the fire took place.

Teachers and staff members serve as an emotional barrier, reminding the parents—as well as the cadets—not to worry. Group Capt. Rajneesh Kumar, the Sainik School Imphal's principal, claimed that when the fire started, the school's fire protection measures were not very effective.

The fire service department and other concerned authorities have opened an investigation into the incident. Old wooden and tin hostel roofs, books, student paperwork, certificates, and other Sainik School Imphal possessions were all destroyed in the fire, resulting in losses of about Rs 60 lakh.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of having strong fire safety measures in place at schools and other institutions in order to avoid other sad situations.

A massive fire evoked in Assam’s Jorhat district, destroying several establishments in the area on 23rd February , Thursday. As per the reports, the fire broke out at a market in late hours of Thursday and gutted down as many as 150 shops and businesses.

A total of twenty five firefighters arrived at the spot to calm the fire down, however, the situation was tranquillised after several hours. The episode took place in Chowk Bazar, which is in the centre of Jorhat.

According to officials, the exactly cause of the horrifying fire is yet to be ascertained, however, it has been suspected that the fire must have occurred due to a short circuit in one of the shops which later had spread out to the nearby establishments.

Fortunately, zero casualties were reported and no individual was injured in the incident, as all owners and their staff had already left for home when the fire broke out. The mostly affected businesses were clothing shops and grocery stores.
