IMPHAL: A 10-year-old girl's struggle to attend school while babysitting her sister in Manipur is winning hearts on social media.
Soon after the picture has drawn massive attention, Manipur Minister showed his support for the Manipuri girl named Meiningsinliu Pamel by meeting her family at his residence.
The Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate change, Biswajit Thongam praised the little one for showing a great example of bravery. The pictures that surfaced online show her kindness and love towards her sister.
Thongam also assured the family of Pamel about the responsibility of her educational expenses that will be taken care of by the government.
The Minister took to his Twitter account to share a picture of his meeting with Pamel and her family and wrote a caption informing that the brave girl Meiningsinliu Pamel visited his home with her parents.
He said that the ministry will help in her education through a boarding school and also promised on looking after the expenses of the girl's education till she completes graduation.
Thongam has uploaded several pictures in which he and his family including his wife and daughter were seen spending time with the little girl and her family.
The initiative by the minister has received much attention from the netizens of Twitter. They expressed happiness for his generous act and the valuable steps taken for the need of the citizens.
In the picture circulated on social media, the 10-year-old girl Meiningsinliu Pamel from Tamenglong district in Manipur was seen writing in her classroom with her babysitter on her lap.
According to reports, the parents of Meiningsinliu Pamel were out farming and therefore she took her baby sister to school as she would be alone in the home.
