IMPHAL: Two alleged drug smugglers were killed in the state at two distinct sites, according to the outlawed rebel group National Revolutionary Front, Manipur (NRFM). Kayenpaibam Nganga, 26, was slain, according to a statement from the NRFM communication and publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei, because of his involvement in drug smuggling cases.

On February 14, Nganga's bullet-riddled body was discovered on the Heingang River bank beneath Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District.

A female drug smuggler named Hoikhling, 26 was allegedly slain by the group for her purported involvement in drug trafficking cases. On October 17, 2022, she was fatally murdered close to her home in the Churachandpur district village of Pholjang.

Also, the NRFM issued a warning that some drug traffickers, dealers, and smugglers will soon face harsh penalties. In the meantime, during the course of the last 24 hours, police have detained three young NRFM cadres during various operations in the valley areas.

They were found to be in possession of one pistol and one magazine, five rounds of 7.65 calibre, three mobile phones, one wallet containing Rs. 220, one Aadhar card, one Pan card, and one Honda Activa, according to the police.

Thounaojam Hemba Singh, a 19-year-old NRFM member from Kongba, was taken into custody around one in the morning close to the City Convention, the major location of the G20 festivities, along with a gun and ammo.

Two other activists, Sagolsem Rahul Meitei, 19, of Bamon Kampu, Imphal East district, and Khulem Shyam Singh, 19, of Khongpal Chaingangbam Leikaki, Imphal East district, were apprehended from separate hiding places after being questioned by him.
