According to authorities, few days back, new violence broke out between a group of people and suspected militants in a region bordering the troubled districts of Bishnupur and Churachandpur on Thursday, leaving one person dead and another injured.

According to reports, militants set fire to some villagers' homes late Tuesday night in Toronglaobi, Bishnupur district, according to authorities.

Amit Shah, the union home minister, pleaded with Manipur residents to uphold calm and announced that he will visit the state in a few days and remain for three days.
