IMPHAL: On June 24, vandals burned down a private godown owned by Manipur Minister of Public Health Engineering Department, Consumer and Food Affairs L Susindro Meitei in a new incidence of arson in the state.
Even a mob attempted to torch the minister's home, but timely arrival of security personnel allowed them to use tear gas to disperse the crowd. The arson incident was reported from Ishirou in Imphal East, close to the Sajiwa Jail, where the miscreants also set a BJP office on fire.
The incident occurs barely hours before an all-party conference about the Manipur issue would be held by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Today at 3 PM, the meeting will take place in Delhi.
