Manipur's 23 MLAs and Ministers briefed Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on State's Current Situation

Manipur's 23 MLAs and Ministers briefed Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on State's Current Situation

IMPHAL: Up to 23 Manipur MLAs and ministers met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday in New Delhi.

According to sources, Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, speaker of the state assembly, was in charge of the delegation. In an hour-long discussion, the group informed the union minister of the conditions on the ground in Manipur, according to sources. The conference, which started at around six o'clock, covered a number of topics pertaining to the state that is plagued by violence.

On the other hand, the MLA and ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National People's Party (NPP) also met with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi to inform him of the situation in the violently disturbed state of Manipur.

In order to keep violence in the state of Manipur under control, the MLAs presented some ideas to the Union Defence Minister. The legislators also asked that the Centre cease the ongoing bloodshed and uphold the state's territorial integrity at all costs in order to establish peace in the state.

Additionally, the MLAs requested harsh punishment for the insurgent organisations for breaking the law. The legislators also demanded that SoO be withdrawn and that its members be returned to their assigned camps.

The MLAs requested clarity from the Centre about claims made against a few central BJP officials by a few militant organisations in the state for providing assistance during the 2017 election.

N Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, announced on Monday that the state will soon build pre-fabricated homes to temporarily lodge all affected citizens.

The chief minister went to some of the state's relief camps earlier today.

An Indian Army soldier is said to have been hurt on the night between June 18 and 19, when armed miscreants opened fire on Chingmang hamlet without warning from Kanto Sabal. Army Columns used controlled retaliation fire while keeping an eye out for nearby people.
