Manipur's Ukhrul District Experiences A 4.0-Magnitude Earthquake

On Saturday morning, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck the Ukhrul district of Manipur, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake happened at 6:14 a.m. and was 10 kilometres deep. There were no casualties reported.

The January 4, 2016 Manipur earthquake was a large seismic event that affected the northeastern Indian state of Manipur. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.8 and was followed by numerous aftershocks, resulting in significant destruction and fatalities. Several northeastern Indian states, as well as Bangladesh and Myanmar, felt the earthquake. The Indian government and other non-governmental groups initiated rescue and relief operations in the impacted areas to aid individuals affected by the earthquake. Despite these attempts, the earthquake caused significant damage, and the region is still experiencing seismic activity to this day.

The region around the western border of Gujarat and Rajasthan

the Himalayan area, comprising Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

The Indo-Gangetic Plains encompass portions of northern and northeastern India.

Rann of Kutch, located in Gujarat.
