IMPHAL: The state of Manipur is all set to get its first five-star hotel in the coming two years as the chief minister announced the new project in the capital city of Imphal.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh laid the foundation stone for a five-star hotel in the city of Imphal on Monday in the presence of several other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister mentioned that this project will be constructed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. He also announced that the project will be delivered to the citizens of the state before the Sangai Festival of 2025. The Sangai Festival is the most impressive tourism festival in the state and sees a huge tourist footfall.
The event for laying the foundation stone of the project was also attended by several members of the Manipur cabinet including Sushildro Leishangthem, Nemcha Kipgen and Yumnam Khemchand apart from the chief minister N Biren Singh.
This upcoming project is expected to have 80 rooms, a state-of-the-art multi-cuisine restaurant, a pub, a clubhouse, a VIP club lounge, a swimming pool, SPA and saloon, a fitness centre, an art gallery, banquet halls, an auditorium and many other amenities.
“With more such world-class accommodation facilities, the tourism sector in the state will be given a significant boost,” mentioned the chief minister. He also added that “Manipur is already emerging as a top destination in the Northeast in terms of attracting the most foreign tourists”
It is important to note that the entire Northeastern part of the country has seen a massive increase in tourist footfall in the previous year. After the Covid restrictions were gradually withdrawn, the missive section of domestic tourists decided to explore this region. But the lack of an ample number of star-category accommodations has been a problem for the tourism sector of the country.
