People Will Be Able To Reach Bangkok From Imphal By Road Within 16-18 Hours: CM N Biren Singh

IMPHAL : Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed on Friday that, citizens and tourists can reach from Imphal to Bangkok by road within a time period of 16-18 hours, once the Asian Highway project in completed in Myanmar.

The minister also emphasised on the fact that the NE state is the passage towards South East Asian countries. While speaking at the CII-organised B-20 conference, Singh mentioned that the government is planning to provide international flights from Imphal to Mandalay in Myanmar and Bangkok in Thailand.

He further said that, the state of Manipur has all the necessary settings and infrastructure which is needed for the implementation of the country’s Act East Policy. N Biren Singh further stated that, the biggest superpower of Manipur is the youths who can speak fluent English and have excelled in sectors of Hospitality and Healthcare.

Apart from this, the CM also said that the B20 conference which is currently hosted by the state, will act as a great opportunity for Manipur to demonstrate strength and opportunities for multilateral development and partnership in varied fields.

He also claims that the conference would offer agendas and policies towards sustainable growth and development and being in peace with the theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. Notably, this is the first session of B20- the official G20 dialogue forum for the global business community-scheduled in Northeast.

Delegates attended the event from as many as 23 countries and the inaugural session was graced by R K Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs. Train services would also reach Imphal city by next year, CM Biren Singh informed, and said the state has been recognised as the “most improved small state in the overall category” for three years in a row in the State of the States survey.
