Security Forces Recover Arms and Ensure Normalcy in Manipur

IMPHAL: A recent joint operation in Manipur by security forces resulted in the recovery of nine stolen firearms, including two homemade pistols, along with ten different types of ammunition and a significant quantity of explosives. This operation, spanning Churachandpur, Imphal East, and Thoubal districts, marked a substantial breakthrough in the efforts to combat illegal arms trafficking and maintain law and order in the region.

According to Manipur Police, except for sporadic incidents, the situation across various parts of the state has largely returned to normal. This development is a positive sign for the region's stability and security.

To support the ongoing recovery efforts and ensure the smooth transportation of essential goods, authorities have taken measures to facilitate the movement of a large number of goods-laden vehicles along the Imphal – Jiribam National Highway (NH-37). Additionally, stringent security measures have been implemented in vulnerable locations, with security escorts assigned to sensitive stretches of the highway. These measures are aimed at guaranteeing the free and safe movement of vehicles.

A total of 128 checkpoints, referred to as 'nakas,' have been established in various districts of Manipur, encompassing both hill and valley regions. These checkpoints are crucial for monitoring and maintaining security in the state, preventing unlawful activities, and ensuring the safety of residents.

Furthermore, in a bid to enforce compliance with various laws, Manipur Police has detained over 800 individuals across different districts of the state. These detentions are part of a broader effort to address violations and maintain law and order, contributing to the overall security and stability of Manipur.

The joint operation by security forces leading to the recovery of looted arms and explosives in Manipur's districts represents a significant achievement in maintaining regional security. With the situation stabilizing and strict security measures in place, the state is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of its residents and promote normalcy in the region.
