Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Imphal, Manipur on December 27. Home Minister Shah will lay the foundation stones of the Chuachandpur Medical College, the State Government Guest House at Imphal, the Manipur Bhawan, Dwarka located in New Delhi, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Muongkhong, the State Police Headquarters at Imphal, and the Integrated Command and Control Centre City in Imphal.

The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh and his government is planning to honour Home Minister Shah for his role in introducing the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the northeastern states.

Shah will first visit Assam on December 26. He will then move to Imphal, Manipur on December 27. He will reach Guwahati on Friday night. Security has been tightened ion both Guwahati and Manipur.

Shah will inaugurate various projects from Amingaon in North Guwahati. A grand meeting site has been set up at the venue. Home Minister Shah's programmes in Guwahati include the distribution of financial grants to the tune of Rs 155 crore to 8,000 Namghars (the traditional Vaisnavite monasteries of Assam). The distribution of financial grants is being done under the Assam Darshan programme.

He will further lay the foundation stones for the development of 'Batadrava Than' in Nagaon, Assam. He will lay the foundation stones for the Northeast's biggest medical college in Guwahati, and ten law colleges across the state. The ten law colleges will be established at Diphu, Tezpur, Silchar, Dibrugarh, Rangia, North Lakhimpur, Bilasipara, Raha, Jorhat and Tihu, said an official spokesperson.

Earlier in March, Amit Shah's Manipur visit was postponed due to the coronavirus threat. He was supposed to visit Manipur on March 15.
