SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Saturday registered 162 new COVID-19 cases and registered no death.

Meanwhile, the State also recorded 69 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recovered cases has reached 83,666.

The tally of active cases has increased to 991, the Health Department stated in a bulletin.

The total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection stands at 1,490 so far.

East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases with 782, West Khasi Hills has 13 cases, East Garo Hills has two cases, West Garo Hills has 89 cases, Ri-Bhoi has 61cases, West Jaintia Hills has 17 cases, East Jaintia Hills has 10 cases, South West Khasi Hills has nine cases, South Garo Hills has three cases, North Garo Hills has two cases and South West Garo Hills has three cases.

The 162 new COVID-19 cases which have been detected are from East Khasi Hills (121), East Jaintia Hills (three), Ri-Bhoi (six), West Jaintia Hills (three), West Garo Hills (23), West Khasi Hills (two), South West Garo Hills (three) and East Garo Hills (one).

The 69 recovered cases are from East Khasi Hills (50), Ri-Bhoi (three), West Garo Hills (15) and West Jaintia Hills (one).
