SHILLONG: Meghalaya, on Friday, recorded the highest single-day recovery of 235 COVID-19 patients, taking the recovery tally to 8,125, even as 79 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours. Till date, the State has detected 9,382 COVID-19 cases; of which 1,170 are active cases, and 8,125 recovered. The toll tally is 87, informed Director of Health Services (MI), DrAman War.

Of the fresh recoveries, 191 are from East Khasi Hills district; 23 from West Jaintia Hills; nine from West Garo Hills; five from East Garo hills; four from South Garo Hills; two from RiBhoi; and one from South West Garo Hills district.

Meanwhile, the new COVID-19 cases include 27 from West Garo Hills; 24 East Khasi Hills; two from West Jaintia Hills; one each from East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills.

The East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 552 infections (Armed & paramilitary forces: 15; civilians: 537), followed by West Garo Hills (198) and RiBhoi (184).

In the other districts, 73 cases have been reported in West Jaintia Hills; 52 in East Garo Hills; 51 in West Khasi Hills; 20 in East Jaintia Hills; 16 each in South Garo Hills and North Garo Hills; five in South West Garo Hills; and three in South West Khasi Hills.

"Of the 2,01,296 swab samples tested till date, 1,91,914 were found to be negative," added Dr War.
