30 Bn BSF troops seized oxen worth lakhs in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Acting on a tipoff, BSF troops deployed at BOP (Border Out Post) Umsyiem, 30 Bn BSF in East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya seized 16 oxen worth Rs 2,56,000.

The animals were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh through the unfenced border

In another incident, BSF troops of BOP Umsyiem of 30 Bn BSF seized two more oxen worth Rs 1,52,000.

These animals were being loaded in a Maruti car.

U.K. Nayal, DIG/PRO said, "In view of increasing smuggling attempts BSF has intensified its vigil and operations on the Indo-Bangladesh border despite the harsh weather conditions, stated a release.
