SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Monday registered 406 new COVID-19 cases and registered one death in the West Garo Hills (WGH).

Meanwhile, the State also recorded 185 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases to 85,009.

The tally of active cases has increased to 2,257 the Health Department said in a bulletin.

The total number of fatalities from Covid-19 infection stands at 1,498 so far.

East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases with 1,552.West Khasi Hills has 26 cases, East Garo Hills none, West Garo Hills has 325 cases, Ri-Bhoi has 152 cases, West Jaintia Hills has 64 cases, East Jaintia Hills has 31 cases, South West Khasi Hills has 17 cases, South Garo Hills has 16 cases, North Garo Hills has 16 cases, Eastern West Khasi Hills has 23 cases and South West Garo Hills has 23 cases.

The 406 new COVID-19 cases which have been detected are from East Khasi Hills (242), Eastern West Khasi Hills (2), East Jaintia Hills (5), Ri-Bhoi (18), South Garo Hills (2), South West Khasi Hills (2), West Jaintia Hills (8), West Garo Hills (16), North Garo Hills (5), West Khasi Hills (1), South West Garo Hills (4) and East Garo Hills (0). The 185 recovered cases are from East Khasi Hills (127), East Jaintia Hills (8), North Garo Hills (1), Ri-Bhoi (9), South Garo Hills (4), South West Garo Hills (1), South West Khasi Hills (1), West Garo Hills (9), West Jaintia Hills (5) and West Khasi Hills (3).
