SHILLONG: Police have so far arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in planting of an IED outside the office of the National People's Party (NPP) on October 4.
Initially one person was arrested for his involvement in the crime who later led the police to the other four. "Possibly more arrests will be made and investigations are on," the NPP national president and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said.
Meanwhile, the NPP national president also clarified that he never made a statement stating that there was a political angle to the planting of the IED in his party's office. "Let me make that very clear I never made that statement. It was in response to a question. Somebody had asked is there a possible political link to this incident and my reply was there could be. We cannot simply right that off," Sangma said.
The Chief Minister said that he never made that statement but had reacted to a question posed by the media. Sangma while lauding the effort of the police in solving the case said that the cops were doing 'a good work'.
