The COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya on Saturday continued to surge with 507 new infections recorded and 585 recoveries.

SHILLONG: The COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya on Saturday continued to surge with 507 new infections recorded and 585 recoveries. The State also recorded eight new fatalities, the Health Department informed. Of the eight new deaths, East Khasi Hills district recorded three, West Garo Hills district two and East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts recorded one death each.

With the latest figures, the State now has 939 COVID-19 deaths, as many as 4,080 active cases and 51,981 has so far recovered from the virus. Of the 507 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 195, West Garo Hills district 126, Ri-Bhoi district 73, West Jaintia Hills district 41, North Garo Hills district 17, South West Khasi Hills district 16, East Garo Hills district 11, West Khasi Hills district 10, South Garo Hills district seven, East Jaintia Hills district six and South West Garo Hills district five.

Meanwhile, of the 4,080 active cases, East Khasi Hills district has 1,137, West Garo Hills district 875, Ri-Bhoi district 617, West Jaintia Hills district 500, West Khasi Hills district 203, North Garo Hills district 181, East Garo Hills district 155, South West Khasi Hills district 147, South Garo Hills district 100, South West Garo Hills district 90 and East Jaintia Hills district 75.
