SHILLONG: Meghalaya, on Monday, recorded 58 new COVID-19 cases taking the number of active cases to 895, said the Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War. Of the new cases, 22 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 20 in South Garo Hills, nine in Ri-Bhoi, six in West Garo Hills and one in South West Garo Hills.
Dr. War also informed that 57 persons have recovered from the virus taking the total to 10,392. Of the new recovered cases, 30 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 11 in Ri-Bhoi, 10 in South Garo Hills and six in West Garo Hills. Till date, a total of 2, 31, 117 samples were tested out of which 2, 19, 720 came out negative. Dr. War also informed that till date a total of 62, 058 persons have entered the State.
The most affected district - East Khasi Hills — has recorded 6811 total confirmed cases of which 433 are active 6287 have recovered and 91 have died of the virus. The second most affected district is West Garo Hills with 1,533 total confirmed cases of which 234 are active, 1288 have recovered and 11 fatalities.
Dr. War also informed that till date, a total of 11397 persons have been affected by the virus. Of them, as many as 10,392 have recovered, 895 are active and 110 deaths have been recorded.
