613 new COVID cases, 890 recoveries reported in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: For the second consecutive day in a row the number of recoveries outnumbered the new COVID-19 infections even as seven deaths were recorded on Saturday.

The State recorded 613 new cases and 890 new recoveries on Saturday.

Of the seven deaths, East Khasi Hills recorded five, Ri-Bhoi and South West Garo Hills districts registered one each.

With the latest numbers, the State now has 551 COVID deaths, as many as 7,741 total active cases and 26,156 total recovered cases.

Of the 613 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 320, Ri -Bhoi district (87), West Garo Hills (74), North Garo Hills (28), West Jaintia Hills (23), East Garo Hills (19), South West Garo Hills (17), West Khasi Hills (17), East Jaintia Hills (12), South West Khasi Hills (11), and South Garo Hills (5).

The district wise distribution of active cases are - East Khasi Hills (3663), Ri-Bhoi (1191), West Garo Hills (676), West Jaintia Hills (646), South West Garo Hills (417), South West Khasi Hills (232), East Jaintia Hills (228), West Khasi Hills (207), North Garo Hills (184), East Garo Hills (155 ), and South Garo Hills (142).

Of the 551 deaths, East Khasi Hills district recorded 450, West Jaintia Hills (36), West Garo Hills (25), Ri-Bhoi (11), East Jaintia Hills (8), West Khasi Hills and North Garo Hills five each, South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills four each, East Garo Hills (2), and South West Khasi Hills (1).
