Air Vice Marshal B Chandra Sekhar Takes Charge As SOA

Shillong: Air Vice Marshal B Chandra Sekhar took over as Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration (SOA) of Eastern Air Command (EAC) of Indian Air Force (IAF), Shillong on Thursday. Chandra Sekhar is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned as a helicopter pilot in IAF on 21 December 1984.

In a career spanning over 34 years of service, the air officer has flown most variants of helicopters in the IAF inventory and has over 5,400 hours of flying to his credit. He has vast experience of VVIP/VIP operations and high altitude operations. The air officer has held many command, instructional and staff appointments. His important assignments include Flight Commander of the first Mi 171V unit, Chief Operational Officer of a forward base during Operation Parakram and command of a helicopter unit in India

He also tenated the appointments of Operation IIB in the Eastern Sector, Principal Director (Administration) in Strategic Forces Command. Prior to taking over as SOA of EAC, the Air Officer was a Senior Officer in-charge Administration, Southern Air Command.
