AITC Meghalaya chief Charles Pyngrope welcomes Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh's decision

SHILLONG: The All India Trinamool Congress (Meghalaya unit) president Charles Pyngrope said the decision of the Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh is a constitutional decision and everybody in AITC welcomes it.

"The decision of the Speaker is a constitutional decision, and we respect that. We will respect the decision of the Speaker if it is in our favour or not," Pyngrope said.

He further clarified that the question of being happy or not does not arise, as the ruling of the Speaker is done with due diligence after examining the 10th schedule of the constitution.

"When the speaker has made his decision constitutionally, we must respect it. The honourable Speaker has given his ruling after examining the anti defection Act in the constitution, the 10th schedule before he made his decision. We accept the decision," he said.

It may be mentioned that the Legislative Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Thursday recognized the merger of the 12 Congress MLAs with the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).
