SHILLONG: The Anti-Corruption And Human Development Organisation (ACHDO) has urged authorities to set up an examination centre Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) at Jana Priya Higher Secondary School Bholarbhita, West Garo Hills.
The ACHDO said that this is for the benefit of Jana Priya Higher Secondary School Bholarbhita and students of adjoining school in the area.
The students of the adjoining area of Chibinang have been facing huge problems due to lack of examination centre nearby. Every year hundreds of students appears in SSLC and HSSLC examination and all of them have to go Shyanmagar and before that it was Phulbari,” the ACHDO said.
The organisation in the morning instead of revising the papers the students have to prepare to travel about 10-20 km from home to their respective examination centres.
“There are also poor students who can’t afford to reserve a car and they have to go by buses, or other commercial vehicles and it has come to our notice that sometimes some students are not able to reached their centres on time,” the ACHDO said.
According to the organization, the road from Chibinang to Phulbari is mostly dilapidated and students face huge difficulties to travel.
“The Jana Priya Higher Secondary School is one of the oldest school in the entire plain belt but despite that it has not been notified as an examination centre till date”, the ACHDO said.
