Shillong: In another breakthrough, the Madanriting Police Station along with the Anti Narcotic task Force (ANTF) East Khasi Hills district busted a drug cartel on Thursday. According to police inputs, yesterday evening, a couple of known drug peddlers were intercepted by the Beat Staff of Madanriting police station. Thereafter, an ANTF team was dispatched to the spot by SP East Khasi Hills, Shillong.
On conducting a house search as per provisions of NDPS Act, heroin weighing 161 gm was recovered from the roof top of the house which was rented by a Mizo couple. All together six persons, all of them from Mizoram, were arrested – Joseph Hmar (25), Vanlalzom (40), Kimi Hmar (32), Melody Chaksuak (43), Manguri Fanai (34) and Nutei Tochhoang (37).
A case vide Madanritng PS case No. 116(10)19 U/s 21(b)/29 NDPS Act R/w Sec. 353 IPC has been registered.
Interestingly, through these arrests, few facts have come to light such as Guwahati becoming a new aggregation hub and the Guwahati to Shillong highway being used to bring drugs into Shillong, informed the Anti Narcotic Task Force.
