Guwahati: Assam Director General of Police(DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta inaugurated a specially designed Pre-promotion Cadre Course for Assam Police Sub Inspectors on Tuesday. The course will be available in the North Eastern Police Academy situated in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya.

In the two batches for the year 2020, the Government of Assam will send 549 police personnel to North Eastern Police Academy. The first batch comprising 273 ASIs and HCs reported for the program so far at the North East Police Academy.

DGP Mahanta took to his Twitter and shared his experience.

In his address, Mahanta lauded Deepak Kumar, IPS, Director, and the entire team of North Eastern Police Academy for his efforts to make the institute a center of excellence in police training.

Appreciating the infrastructure and faculty of NEPA he urged all the trainees to avail training facilities like sports, games, gyms and suggested that senior officers can be deputed to deliver classes on investigations and others. The DGP further appealed to North Eastern Police academy (NEPA) to put more emphasis on training the police personnel for fighting crimes against women and children and drug menace.

Mahanta was accompanied by Dr. LR Bishnoi, IPS ADGP (Y&AP), Assam. Later, he also inaugurated the Unakoti Mess which was recently constructed by CPWD to accommodate in-service officers who come to NEPA for different in-service courses.
