SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday visited the Bethany Hospital here which reopened after a month of closure following the detection of the first COVID-19 positive case in the State. Bethany was the first hospital in Shillong that was shut down after its director, Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang became the first COVID-19 fatality of the State.
In the presence of late Dr John L Sailo Rynthathiang's wife and other family members, the Chief Minister paid tribute to Dr Sailo, the founder of Bethany Hospital Shillong and joined the family in prayers.
"I thank the entire Bethany Hospital team who responded to the pressure in a positive and cooperative manner. I also thank the network and the community who supported the government and Bethany Hospital during the time," said Sangma.
He said that the biggest tribute to Dr Sailo will be for the team to continue with the good work and fulfil his vision for the people.
