SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF), Frontier HQ Shillong organized 'Hindi Diwas' on September 14 on the culmination of 'Hindi-Pakhwara' (fortnight) from September 1 onwards. On the occasion, the importance of Hindi was deliberated upon by various speakers.

During 'Hindi Pakhwada', quiz, noting or drafting, essay writing and typing competitions in Hindi were organized by BSF from September 1 onwards as per the directions of Ministry of Home Affairs. On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, D Haokip, DIG (PSO) / President of Rajbhasha (Hindi) Committee, distributed the 'Commendation Cards' to the BSF personnel who obtained the first, the second and the third positions in various competitions and congratulated them. DIG/PSO Haokip said, "Hindi is our national language and we need to promote Hindi as it strengthens togetherness and unity." He also applauded the performance of personnel especially who belong to the non-Hindi speaking areas and encouraged them to do most of their works in Hindi, stated a release.
