SHILLONG: The BSF (Border Security Force), Meghalaya Frontier has been continuously conducting various civic action programmes to serve border-residing population and to inculcate a sense of security among them.

On March 9, 2021, a 'Civic Action Programme' was organized by BSF Meghalaya Frontier in the border village of Baldamgiri, Rithingpara of District South West Garo Hills in the area of 28 Battalion of BSF. The programme was inaugurated by Hardeep Singh, Inspector General, Frontier HQrs Meghalaya in the presence of S.K.Misra Commandant.

During the programme, stationary, solar lights, spray pumps among other items were distributed to the people living on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

About 100 civilians joined this programme and expressed their happiness and gratitude on the friendly gesture demonstrated by the BSF.

On the same day, a free medical camp and also a civic action programme were also organized at Muktapur BOP (Border Out Post) of 30 Battalion of BSF. During the programme essential items such as computers, plastic chairs, scissors, utensils, and various sports items were distributed to the villagers of Jalia Khola, Shiv Parvati Temple, Lakra Basti, Hawai Basti, Muktapur, Patro Basti, Amjolang, Amki, Ampiang of West Jaintia Hills distrcit in Meghalaya. During the Medical camp, 195 patients were provided free medicines by the Medical Officers of BSF. The local population appreciated the initiation of BSF towards improvements of their life standard, stated a release.
