NONGSTOIN: A jeepable bridge was
inaugurated at Nongshyiap village under Aradonga Circle in Meghalaya's West
Khasi Hills District on Tuesday. The
65-metre bridge was constructed by the villagers of Nongshyiap and Warigro, under
the MGNREGA scheme at an amount of Rs 50 lakh. A jeepable bridge is usually
constructed in hilly areas or over water bodies. It is good enough to
accommodate the weight and size of a jeep at the most due to its rough and
narrow design. The bridge was inaugurated by Block Development Officer (BDO) of
Mawshynrut C&RD Block, S Syiemlieh,
. Among others who attended the programme included Charles Jana,
District Programme Manager DRDA Nongstoin and the village heads. (Agencies)
