SHILLONG: The BSF conducted ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign at various BSF campuses/BOPs and at villages/important places in vicinity of the International Border under FTR HQ BSF Meghalaya on Wednesday. The campaign was flagged off by Kuldeep Saini, Inspector General, BSF Meghalaya on September 11, stated a press release.
On Wednesday, a mega rally was launched, which was attended by Saini, Ashok Kumar, DIG, BSF along with officers, subordinate officers and jawans of BSF. The team visited Umpling campus and the adjoining area to carry out cleanliness drive and collected plastic waste.
Saini said “Shramdan and cleaning the area in and around the campuses is the character and routine activity of BSF”. He further said that “BSF has formulated a systematic waste disposal plan, separation of organic and unorganic waste and is also promoting community awareness programme in different border villages through distribution of dustbins, construction of toilets and plastic waste awareness and management”.
