BSF medical camp for East Jaintia Hills villagers

SHILLONG: A free medical camp under civic action programme was organized at village Barsora in East Jaintia Hills by 97 Bn BSF (Bodo Security Force) on January 9. Commandant of 97 BN BSF, H.S. Rawat inaugurated the initiative.

During the programme, approximately 350 residents of the nearby villages, namely Barsora, Umkiang, Dona Bohi, Kuliang, Laijuri, Lailong, Harai and Hangaria underwent ENT (Eye Nose Throat) and general health checkup. They were also provided consultancy and medicine. Apart from checkup, 150 persons identified with eye problems were assured that they will be given spectacles free of cost in the near future.

The medical squad comprised DrArghyaJyotiGhosh, (ENT), Dr Brando Khongsit (Opthalmologist), DrDebojitSaikiya, MO IC P.H.C. Umkiang among others, stated a release.
