TURA: Acting on a tipoff, personnel of the 28 Bn BSF (Border Security Force) and Police from Zikzak Police Station, South West Garo Hills destroyed illegal hemp plants in Tura on Thursday. The joint operation was conducted on more than half acre of land. The plants were set afire in front of the residents of village Bhoiragopi. The growth of hemp was at the final stage and ripen enough to be consumed as a psychotropic substance. The land used for cultivation belongs to Mohiran Hajong (35) son of Kabirtana Hajong of Bhoiragopi village, stated a release.
