Venues finalized in terms of infrastructure created; locations for training areas finalized

Shillong: The National Games Organizing Committee held a meeting at the conference hall of the State Secretariat here on Friday. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, Minister of PWD (Buildings), C Ymbon and Minister of Urban Affairs Hamletson Dohling.

The meeting discussed some important decisions regarding the National Games 2022 and informed the committee of the different steps that were taken by the State Government.

Speaking to the media, Sangma said, “The meeting discussed the locations and venues for various disciplines and the venues were finalized in terms of the infrastructure that has been created and different aspects of the locations for the training areas were finalized.” The Chief Minister also informed that the State Government has mobilized Rs 450 crore from different ministries and departments of the Government of India. “We are committed and are on track to ensure we are ready for 2022,” he said. The meeting also discussed the preparedness of departments like Power, PHE, Urban Affairs, Roads, etc. The resource and infrastructure of different institutions like IIM, NEHU and Assam Rifles to host the Games or as practice areas were also discussed. Also present during the meeting were members of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association.
