SHILLONG: Chief Minister and NPP (National People's Party) chief Conrad K Sangma along with 15 elected MDCs (Members of District Councils) of GHADC (Garo Hills Autonomous District Council) on Saturday called on Governor Satyapal Malik at Raj Bhavan to stake claim for forming the new EC (Executive Committee) of the Council.

The MDCs have come together as the 'Garo Hills Democratic Coalition' (GHDC) and comprises 11 NPP MDCs, 3 Independents and one MDC of the GNC (Garo National Council). While marching the 15 elected members to the Raj Bhawan, the Chief Minister also spelt out the names of the members who will take charge of the ruling dispensation of the GHADC.

The proposed Chairman of the new EC in GHADC will be Rakesh A Sangma, while the CEM (Chief Executive Member) will be Benedict Marak and Deputy CEM will be Nikman Marak, stated Conrad Sangma.

The election for Chairman will be held on Monday.

It may mentioned that though the Congress won 12 seats in the House of 29 yet it could not muster the support of the Independents. Sources said that the elected members reached Shillong late Friday evening and had parleys at the Chief Minister's residence till around 3 am on Saturday.
