Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma took a personal interest by inspecting the venue of one of the biggest food fiesta in the northeastern region – The North East Food Show – ahead of its inauguration. The Chief Minister visited the well decked venue at the Polo Ground on Tuesday and had a thorough interaction with the organizers including the government officials.

During his round up, the Chief Minister appears to be upbeat with the preparation for the North East Food Show scheduled from Wednesday till Friday. In course of his casual speech at the venue, Sangma stated, “This is a deciding moment because we have planned this for a very long time and it was followed by the thought process that started one and a half years ago”.

More than 300 delegates from across India and abroad will assemble to provide a platform to the northeast agro and food processing industry to tap national and global markets through an intensive focus on networking and business relationship development.

Exhibitors from Mexico, Costa Rica Japan, Argentina, United Kingdom, Georgia, Chile and Bangladesh among others will participate in the event.

The event is being hosted by the Meghalaya government in collaboration with the SIAL Group, the world’s largest food innovation network with over 50 years of global food innovation experience.

“We have almost 300 delegates and participants from different countries and parts of India attending the North East Food Show. It will be a very exciting show and the entire programme is going to be something which will completely change the way we see food processing sector and food industries as a whole in the northeast,” the Chief Minister said.
