SHILLONG: Governor of Meghalaya Satya Pal Malik has assured Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that he will take up the issues of MRSSA (Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Amendment Act-2020) and the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP) at his level with the Home Ministry.

This assurance was given when the CM met the Governor here on Wednesday.

Informing this to media after the meeting, Chief Minister Sangma said, "The Governor is also concerned about these issues. He also asked the State government to take up these issues simultaneously with the Central government. We hope to find a positive way forward."

Sangma further said that the Governor informed him that will be going to Delhi to meet the Union Home Minister and others to discuss the matters.

The Chief Minister added, "After going through the file on MRSSA, the Governor felt that it was necessary. But at the same time, the Governor also pointed out that the matter needs to be discussed with the Centre because there were certain concerns earlier and due to which the Bill did not go through at that point in time. And that is what he will be doing," said Sangma.

The Chief Minister also informed that the entry point at Umling in Ri-Bhoi district will be inaugurated on December 16. Sangma also informed that the Delhi-Shillong flight will start from December 21. "The airlines have confirmed that at least twice-a-week flights from Delhi to Shillong will be operational. It will be a 72-seater Q400 flight which is more advanced to ATRs," said the Chief Minister.
