SHILLONG: People’s Democratic Front (PDF) leader and Cabinet Minister in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition, Hamletson Dohling on Monday said that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma should be “aggressive” in demanding Inner Line Permit (ILP) from the Centre.

“The Chief Minister should put pressure on the Centre so that it calls us for a discussion on implementing ILP in Meghalaya,” Hamletson Dohling said.

The Cabinet Minister told reporters that the PDF recently met the Chief Minister, who in turn informed that during his recent visit to Delhi wherein he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he urged to give the Meghalaya delegation an appointment to discuss the implementation of ILP.

It may be mentioned that Shah had told the Chief Minister that he can meet the delegation from Meghalaya only after the Delhi elections.

“We will wait till the Delhi elections results are out. The Centre knows what the people of the State wants. Therefore the Centre should immediately give us an appointment,” the PDF leader said.

On the recent statement made by BJP legislator from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai that if the saffron party was in power, ILP would have been immediately implemented in Meghalaya, Dohling said, “Anyone can lead the government but we are only concerned about the implementation of ILP in our State.”
