SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded another COVID-19 death taking the number of fatalities due to the virus to 112, informed Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War.
The deceased, Dr. V. P. Sinha (82) of Laban, opposite Garrison Ground, Shillong, was admitted in Military Hospital, Shillong on November 21 and tested positive for COVID-19 on the same day. He expired on November 30 at around 12:20 am. Dr. War said that diagnosis was severe pneumonia with respiratory failure due to COVID-19 with CAD with CKD with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Hypertension.
On Tuesday, the State registered 65 new cases taking the total number of active cases to 669 and with 158 new recoveries the number of total recovered cases stands at 11094.
Of the 65 new cases, East Khasi Hills registered 36, East Garo Hills 16, West Garo Hills seven, South West Garo Hills three, South West Khasi Hills two and West Jaintia Hills one.
Of the 158 recovered cases, 70 were recorded in West Garo Hills, 65 in East Khasi Hills (Armed/paramilitary force: 14; civilians: 51); South Garo Hills: eight; East Jaintia Hills; eight; Ri-Bhoi: four; and South West Garo Hills: three (Armed/paramilitary force: one; civilians: two).
Dr. War also informed that till date a total of 2, 43, 668 persons have been tested for COVID-19 out of which 2, 31, 793 tested negative. The number of persons who entered the state till date are 65, 732.
