SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded two more COVID-19 deaths taking the number of fatalities to 130. The State also recorded 75 fresh cases and 50 persons recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of active cases is 753 and the total recovered cases are 12, 058, informed Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War. The two casualties were recorded in East Khasi Hills and North Garo Hills districts.

Of the new cases registered on Monday, 51 were recorded in East Khasi Hills (Armed & paramilitary forces: seven; civilians: 44), followed by Ri-Bhoi district (21) and West Garo Hills (three).

Of the 50 new recovered cases, 37 were recorded in East Khasi Hills district (Armed & paramilitary forces: one; civilians: 36); nine in West Garo Hills; two each in East Jaintia Hills; and South West Garo Hills. East Khasi Hills district remains the most affected district with 459. Of the 2, 67, 771 samples sent for COVID-19 testing, as many as 2, 54, 830 samples yielded negative results. Besides, a total of 71, 494 persons have entered the State till date, informed Dr War.
