Guwahati: Amid the surging cases of Covid-19 in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, the District Magistrate has announced more houses in Shillong as Containment Zones for detecting high-risk contacts so as to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

These areas are as follows: the house of Baldeep Singh, Maya Kaur and Janki Kaur in Plot-I block A at Sweeper Colony, Mawlongha, and the house of Nud Syiemiong, Pynthorbah Block-II.

Earlier, the District magistrate also extended the containment areas in Jhalupara and replaced the order issued. The areas which were placed under containment areas include Jhalupara Community Hall, Gopal Ji Compound, Musa Compound, and Maya Compound, Jhalupara.

Notably, the District Magistrate has restricted unregulated entry and exit movement in the affected areas which requires aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing, and isolation as well as containment in view of the health of the general public against any possible spread of COVID-19.

The order which was issued by the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya stated that no persons shall be allowed to move into the containment areas and inhabitants within the containment areas shall not move out and shall strictly remain inside their homes.
