CRPF ‘Swachh Bharat’ drive-by PM initiate various activities for 15 days

Shillong: The Northeast Sector CRPF in compliance with the call of “Swachh Bharat” by the Prime Minister undertook various activities for 15 days from December 1 to 15 here. All the officers and men participated in these activities with great enthusiasm.

The general public and school children of Higher Secondary School, Pynthormukhrah, Budha Vidya Niketan Secondary School and Gandhi Buniadi Secondary School also took part in the plogging run at Golf Links, Shillong. Colourful banners with attractive slogans were used during this campaign which was appreciated by all.

A plantation drive was also organized during the “Pakhwada” and a large number of trees/saplings were planted inside CRPF Camps at Polo, Bishop Cotton Road, and Laitumukrah. Posters with slogans on Swachhata Abhiyan were displayed in prominent places to make people aware to keep the surroundings and environment clean.

Besides, all the living areas, offices, buildings and surrounding areas inside the CRPF camp were also cleaned and maintained during the programme. All the CRPF camp areas have been declared “Plastic Free Zone”. Waste generated in the campus areas is recycled to the maximum possible extent.

Prakash D, IGP, NES, CRPF complimented all the officers and men of CRPF and the students of all the three schools who participated in the event. He further said that such campaigns will be undertaken by CRPF in the future to keep the nation green and clean.
