SHILLONG: Dipu Sangma brought laurels to the state of Meghalaya after scoring his maiden century in a Ranji Trophy match against Mizoram in Kolkata.

Sangma's innings of 114 put Meghalaya in a strong position against Mizoram.

This was the first time a cricketer from Meghalaya scored a century in a Ranji Trophy match.

Conrad Sangma, Chief Minister, Government of Meghalaya tweeted, "A stellar performance by Dipu Sangma who makes history for our Meghalaya Cricket Team as the highest scorer and first-century scorer from Meghalaya in the #RanjiTrophy. Our boys are playing wonderfully this season. My best wishes to the Team!"
