SHILLONG: The Dolloi (traditional chief) of Elaka Nartiang Hepsing Dhar has been accused of raping a woman in one of the villages under Nartiang Police Station in West Jaintia Hills District.

According to a complaint lodged by the victim, she informed that the Dolloi who is "kobiraij" or traditional healer committed the heinous crime in the house of the victim's maternal aunt. The incident reportedly occurred at around 3 pm on November 30.

Recounting the day's incidents, the victim alleged in the FIR (First Information Report) that after completing the ritual of blessing all the members of her family, the Dolloi called her and started talking in an unpleasant tone. Saying that evil omen is within her being, he told her to undress.

When contacted, the Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills Bikram D Marak said that investigation is underway.

Notably in 2018, the Dolloi was accused of raping another woman and molesting a minor girl.
