Shillong: Meghalaya Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Dr. Mukul Sangma took an indirect dig at the BJP dispensation at the Centre. Speaking at a function to mark the 75th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi and Sadbhavana Divas at Congress Bhawan, Shillong, Sangma mentioned no names but his target was obvious. In his address to the members, Sangma, the CLP leader and the leader of the Opposition in Meghalaya, laid emphasis on remembering the contributions of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi.

He observed that it was Article 370, which had convinced the then ruler of Jammu & Kashmir to join the Indian Union. He lamented that the people who are not aware of the history of India and the prevailing situation in the subcontinent during the independence movement, have been blaming the Congress leaders of those days in order to gain political mileage.

Dr. Sangma urged upon the party workers to talk to people about the contributions of the party so that the opponents are deprived of the space to spread false and malicious campaign not only about the party but about its past and present leaders.
