SHILLONG: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed on Monday that all entry points into the State will be closed from Monday midnight till the midnight of September 7. Earlier, the State government had taken the decision to close all entry points for a week for three months from September to November. This is to give the people manning the entry points some rest and also to sanitise the infrastructures in such entry points.

The move has been taken to regulate the entry of people from outside into Meghalaya due to the spike in cases — especially in Shillong and West Garo Hills. "The State government is responsible to ensure that the citizens of the State are safe and to control the spread of the virus," the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Vending areas in Shillong identified: Around five to six vending zones for hawkers in Shillong have been identified by the authorities concerned. Briefing, the media on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed that of these places, one is the Polo Parking Lot.

Tynsong informed that during the review meeting, the Urban Affairs Department gave a detailed presentation on the matter. The Deputy Chief Minister also said that only those hawkers registered with the authorities will be accommodated at those zones.
