SHILLONG: The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS) on Friday at the Meghalaya Secretariat, Shillong, for promoting entrepreneurship in the rural areas of Meghalaya through the implementation of the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) and the promotion of both artisan and sectoral clusters.
Dr. Lalit Sharma, Director, IIE, and R. Chitturi, IAS, CEO, MSRLS, signed the MoU in the presence of Dr. Santanu Mohan Deka, Associate Faculty Member, IIE; Shanlang Lyngdoh, Chief Operating Officer, Livelihoods Promotion; Rinky Kyndait, SMM-Non Farm; Dr. Harajyoti Mazumdar, Lead-Project, IIE; and Aiban Khraw Kupar Kharnarry, Project Executive, IIE.
Under the agreement, IIE, as a National Resource Organisation (NRO) of the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), the sub-scheme of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NLRM), with the core objective of promoting employment opportunities in rural India, will particularly develop self-employment avenues for unemployed rural youths in the State of Meghalaya, stated a press release.
