SHILLONG: Meghalaya police recovered two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), one live grenade, and six live 7.62mm cartridges during separate counter-insurgency activities in the West Garo Hills on Monday.

During the initial operation, two suspected IEDs were located in Rechangre hamlet near Dollongre in the Garo Hills. According to investigators, one IED was constructed in a pressure cooker, while another was disguised in a tin paint box.

Both IEDs were instantly detonated and destroyed. In a second incident, one live grenade and six rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition were discovered in Du'magitok village. Police exploded the bomb on the spot.

The scenario was reported on Twitter by the Meghalaya police department. They also added that a case has been filed in relation to the finding, and that an investigation is presently underway to ascertain who is to blame. 

"In a Counter-Insurgency Operation conducted today, West Garo Hills Police recovered one live grenade and 6 nos. live 7.62mm ammunition from Du'magitok village located approx. 15 kms from Tura. Case registered. Investigation is going on," tweeted West Garo Hills District Police. 

"Today, two IEDs were found during a CI Ops in Rechangre hamlet, one built in a pressure cooker and the other in a tin paint box. "Both IEDs were detonated in-situ. Case filed. Investigation underway," added another tweet.
