SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi has sought stern action against miscreants for inciting hatred and misunderstanding with other religious denomination in social media through a fake letterhead of the church.

Executive secretary of the KJP Synod Sepngi, Rev KB Snaitang said the miscreants using a fake letter head has attempted to malign the image of the church and its members by creating and inciting hatred and misunderstanding with other religious denomination, which is not acceptable and most objectionable in law and in practice.

He said the church strongly condemned such misinformation circulated in the social media domain by wrongly misusing the name of the KJP Synod Sepngi.

“The office authority of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi had unanimously decided to take strictest action to find out the source of the social media post which had gravely affected the sentiments of the other church denomination and religious community and had vehemently invoked unrest among the church leaders,” Rev Snaitang said.

In order to verify the said criminal act of incitement, he informed that the office of the KJP had taken the assistance of the Cyber Assistant Cell CID, Shillong so that necessary legal decision can be taken to restrain such unwanted elements from defaming the dignity of the church.
