Shillong: On the third day of the pre-quarterfinals in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, Meghalaya went down by an innings and 474 runs to Maharashtra in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.
Resuming on 27/2, Meghalaya was chasing Maharashtra’s massive first innings of 623/4 declared.
Unfortunately,s the bowling of Maharashtra was too much of a challenge for Meghalaya to weather and they were bowled out for 65 in the first innings (Josiah Momin the top scorer with 17) and then for 84 in the second when they were made to follow on (Sunvish Charak top-scored with 24 not out).
Although this pre-quarterfinal was very one-sided, nothing can be taken away from the incredible performance that the boys put in during the North East Zone, where they won all their matches to qualify for the pre-quarters.
